Eiffel Tower Power

Phoenix needs no introduction. We all know and love them, so just watch these great stripped down Take Away Shows performances. They play on double decker busses, under a bridge, and of course under the Eiffel Tower. Lets start it off with 1901.

Now a little Long Distance Call.

And Lizstomania and One Time Too Many.

This is just too funny and cool to not post. It's a Brat Pack dance mash up video to Lisztomania.

Can you say OH YEAH?

Yeasayer's followup to their great 2007 debut All Hour Cymbals will finally be released February 9th, 2010. Their first single Ambling Alp is bizarre, but definitely grows on ya after a couple of listens. It has funky drums and wandering vocal melodies. It peaks at the end with some cool horns and falsetto vocals.

My favorite music by them is actually their two take away show performances. The first is an acapella version of No Need To Worry and Redcave while they casually walk through the Metro.
This is a cool impromptu apartment performance of 2080 and Tightrope.

Horns, electronica, and a flight of stairs

Beirut is the 23 year old Zach Condon's horns and accordions band. He has a big voice and an even bigger talent for playing and orchestrating multiple nontraditional rock instruments. The first video, Concubine, is off his latest album, March Of The Zapotec/Holland EP. This single is a great blend of electronic music with his typical European Beirut sound.

This is a unique Take Away show performance of Nantes of the album The Flying Club Cup. It begins with Zach alone at the top of the stairs. He sings his way down the stairs getting joined by different members of the band at every floor. Its pretty pretty cool.

Acapella and acoustic in France

Bon Iver's, AKA Justin Vernon, falsetto mellow acoustic pop folk songs are always mesmerizing. And, in honor of his recently announced new upcoming side project, Volcano Choir out on September 22nd, I thought I would post some videos. Here are two songs from his Take Away Shows in France that are filled with amazing harmonies and melodies. The first is an acapella version of For Emma, Forever Ago.

The second is the ever so catchy, Skinny Love.

Music soooo good

Nothing new, just Iceland's Sigur Ros playing a rare acoustic performance of Vid Spilum Endalaust. Like almost all take away shows it's in a awkward setting, its stripped down, its intimate, and its beautiful.
